U srijedu 24. 5. je u Skopju odran snaan protest protiv oruja i primjene oruane sile na kojem je sudjelovalo vie tisuća ljudi. Skup je organiziran kao dio Međunarodnog akcijskog tjedna protiv oruja, ali i povodom smrti troje i ranjavanja estero mladih ljudi u jednom internet caféu prolog tjedna. Protest je vodio nedavno uspostavljeni građanski pokret Zgjohu! Shkup (Razbudi se, Skopje!), uz potporu organizacije Civil sa sloganima Zaustavimo nasilje i Zaustavimo oruje.

Vlada RH jučer je usvojila konačan prijedlog Zakona o sigurnosno-obavjetajnom sustavu RH kojim se regulira rad sigurnosno-obavjetajnih agencija (SOA) i uputila ga Saboru. Konačan prijedlog Zakona doao je na dnevni red Vlade samo dva dana nakon rasprave organizirane od strane Centra za mirovne studije iz koje je proizalo da u navedenom Zakonu postoje brojne odredbe koje mogu upućivati na povredu prava građana.

Yesterday, in Zagreb, the Centre for Peace Studies organized a round-table discussion on the draft-Law on Security and Intelligence System of the Republic of Croatia. The draft has already passed the first reading at the Sabor (Croatian parliament), and the text is now in the process of preparation for the second reading. CMS estimates that there are several disputable points and, yet, there was not wider public debate on the proposal.

The Campaign will be implemented in cooperation with the UNDP's Partnership for Community Safety and Security; the Caritas France in Macedonia; Cair Municipality; Zgjohu! civil movement (Wake UP!), and "Esnaf" association of artizans and craftsmen from the Old Bazaar in Skopje.

In un nuovo rapporto reso pubblico oggi, Amnesty International e TransArms chiedono lurgente rafforzamento dei controlli sui trasferimenti di armi per fermare una catena sempre pił in espansione di intermediari, aziende di servizi logistici e trasportatori che alimenta massicce violazioni dei diritti umani nel mondo. Un traffico che riguarda anche l'Italia, quarto produttore e secondo esportatore mondiale di armi leggere. Secondo dati di Amnesty International e TransArms, ogni anno in tutto il mondo circa mezzo milione di esseri umani sono
uccisi dalla violenza armata - ciņ significa una persona al minuto - e ci sono 639 milioni di armi leggere di cui otto milioni vengono prodotte ogni anno. La spesa media annuale per l'acquisto di armi nel mondo č di 22 miliardi di dollari.
