Rising sea levels around the Pacific island state of Tuvalu have forced authorities to appeal for help to evacuate the population. Plans to cope with the impact of global warming have been exposed as grossly inadequate. Andrew Simms of the New Economics Foundation argues that an international solution to climate change is vital. Poor countries should not be paying debt service to the rich nations before ecological debts are reconciled.
